When it’s time to start planting seeds or potting plants, you can make a run for pre-mixed soils at the Big Box Store or you can mix your own soils that your plants will love!

Seeding Mixture:

• 16 qts of sterilized garden soil
• 8 qts of peat moss
• 8 qts course builders sand or perlite
• ½ cup superphospate
• 1/3 cup ground limestone

Potting Mixture

• 19 qts of sterilized garden soil
• 8 qts of peat moss
• 5 qts of course builders sand or perlite
• ¾ cup complete fertilizer in granular form
• 1/3 cup ground limestone

Soil less mixture

• 1 bu sphagnum peat moss
• 1 bu Horticultural grade vermiculite or perlite
• 10 tbsp of ground limestone
• 5 tsp of superphosphate ( 20% powdered)
• 15 tsp of 5-10-5 fertilizer

Bulb mixture:

• 1 part sifted garden soil
• 1 part sifted peat moss ( pulverized)
• 1 part sifted compost

Growing your own plants and flowers are fun way to de-stress and add color to your home and yard along with putting fresh vegetables on your table. Add to the fun by mixing your own soil too. It’s a great way to let your kids and grandkids play in the dirt and spend time with you too.
